Weather Intelligence for Golf Course Management Webinar

This isn't your typical golf course management webinar. Join us on July 13 to gain some extremely useful insights when it comes to protecting your course from incoming weather.

Weather Challenges on the Course

Planning for weather is a time-consuming task for course superintendents and other staff. Inclement weather can do a number on even the most beautiful golf courses. Droughts dry up once-lush courses in just a few days. On the other hand, intense rain and flooding soak greens and create muddy messes.

Not only do you have to worry about your course, but you must remember staff and golfer safety as well. Thunderstorms bring plenty of hazards, like:

  • Cloud-to-ground lightning strikes
  • Hail
  • High winds
  • Heavy rainfall

Unlike bunkers and water features, these hazards are completely unexpected. They are also, typically, more dangerous. According to the National Weather Service, in the U.S., most lightning injuries and fatalities occur during recreational activities (like golf). As golf course management, it's important to proactively protect your players and personnel.

About Mark Hoekzema

Earth Networks Chief Meteorologist, Mark Hoekzema, will lead the webinar on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Mark is also the director of meteorological operations at Earth Networks. Mark has been with Earth Networks since 2000. Before that, Mark worked at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. for 13 years right out of college. Speaking of college, Mark earned his master's and bachelor's degrees in meteorology from the University of Maryland. He and his team help our clients handle dangerous weather situations around the clock.

Together with Mark and Golf Course Industry Magazine, we'll explore the impacts of weather events on golf courses. We'll also cover the important stuff: How to prevent and prepare for any scenario, such as dangerous lightning and heavy rains.

Weather Technology

This webinar will help you find out how technology can help you automate weather-related decisions at your golf course. This will not only make things safer but will also save you time every time severe weather threatens operations. During the webinar, we'll go through some clubs that are already using advanced early warning tools to manage their courses.

Webinar attendees will also get a sneak peak at our new automated weather visualization tool, Sferic Maps. You'll also get a chance to ask Mark any questions you may have at the end of the webinar.
